Man Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Stepbrother in Greeneville

Greeneville, TN – A Virginia man faces a murder charge following a fatal stabbing incident in Greeneville on Thursday evening, April 10, 2025. The victim has been identified as the suspect’s stepbrother.

Incident on North Sunset Street

According to the Greeneville Police Department, officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 100 block of North Sunset Street around 9:00 PM. Upon arrival at the specific address of 157 North Sunset Street, police found 30-year-old Isaiah R. Quamere Bowden outside the residence suffering from stab wounds to his upper body.

Emergency Medical Services transported Bowden, who had recently been living in Blountville, Tennessee, to Greeneville Community Hospital. Authorities stated that Bowden later died from his injuries at the hospital.

Suspect Arrested at Hospital

The investigation led police to Perry Lamont Schoolfield, Jr., of Dewitt, Virginia, identified as Bowden’s stepbrother. Police reported that Schoolfield arrived at the Greeneville Community Hospital emergency room sometime after the incident. Hospital security personnel detained him in a waiting area until Greeneville Police officers arrived.

Schoolfield was taken into custody by police and transported to the police department for questioning by detectives. Following the interview, Schoolfield was charged with murder in connection with Bowden’s death.

Investigation Continues

Following his arrest, Perry Lamont Schoolfield, Jr., was transported to the Greene County Detention Center. Reports indicate his bond may be set at $600,000 pending an appearance in Greene County Sessions Court.

The Greeneville Police Department, under the direction of Captain Tim Davis regarding information release, has confirmed that the investigation into the stabbing is ongoing.
