Morristown, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) Morristown Office and the Morristown-Hamblen Emergency Management Agency (EMA) are partnering to offer a free Storm Spotter training class on February 27, 2025. This valuable training is open to the public, with a minimum age of 15.

What is a Storm Spotter?

Storm Spotters are trained volunteers who play a vital role in community safety by identifying and reporting severe weather conditions to the National Weather Service. This crucial information helps the NWS issue timely and accurate warnings to the public. Training includes learning to identify different types of clouds, recognizing developing weather patterns, and understanding safe reporting practices.

Training Details

The free training class will cover the skills necessary to safely and effectively identify and report severe weather phenomena, such as tornadoes, hailstorms, flash floods, and high winds. Participation in the class is on a first-come, first-served basis, and seating is limited. Registration is required.
